Summer is just around the corner and luckily, we have several public holidays coming up very soon – a perfect chance to take a break and enjoy the early summer: Thursday, 29 May – Kristi Himmelfartsdag (Ascension Day), Thursday, 5 June – Constitution Day and Monday 9 June 2. Pinsedag (Whit Monday).

In June, the International Staff Unit invites you to join an informative workshop about the annual salary negation process. You will learn about roles and responsibilities, the different steps, timelines as well as cultural insights to enable you to navigate the process with confidence and ease.

Moreover, if you are curious about the supplement, which you will receive in the May salary payout - this is a special holiday allowance (a holiday supplement), which is paid to employees, who are employed in the public sector.  

We would like to draw your attention to several recurring events that are always worth experiencing – such as the traditional Sankt Hans celebration on 23 June (kindly note that there are many different locations for this event based on where you live) and the colorful Kite Festival in Blokhus on 7 and 8 June.

Additionally, there are some exciting new opportunities this year, like free entrance to Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg on 4 June (kindly note that it requires registration in advance).  

While still several months away, we would also like to draw your attention to our upcoming Cross-cultural collaboration and cultural intelligence workshop for Postdoc and PhD Students in November. This workshop is highly recommended for any applicant or receiver of funding, especially from EU projects, which require DEI experience.

Last but not least, we would encourage the spouses and partners of our staff and PhDs to join the AAU+1 events as well as to join the IDCN Jutland-Funen LinkedIn page. The page will enable anyone to learn more about the upcoming IDCN events, achievements, and success stories.
