Preferential access

You can find information about preferential access on this page.

What is preferential access
A person who, due to a disability, has difficulty obtaining employment in the regular labor market has preferential access to vacant positions with public employers if they are as qualified as the other applicants. The preferential access is ensured by the right to an employment interview and by an obligation to negotiate. Please note that applicants from third countries do not have a legal claim to preferential access, even if they have a disability.

What does preferential access mean

Preferential access means that the applicant must be invited to a personal employment interview:

  • If they are referred by a jobcenter or
  • If they themselves invoke the preferential access

For both options, the formal educational requirements in the job posting must be met.

Guidance on preferential access

If you, as a manager, HR employee, etc., need advice regarding cases of requests for preferential access, you should contact your HR partner.

Preferential access is supported in the recruitment system Varbi

Aalborg University's recruitment system, Varbi, supports the question of preferential access. When an applicant applies for a position via Varbi, they will be asked a question about preferential access. Here, the applicant is asked to indicate whether they have a disability and wish to request preferential access.

What to do if the preferential access box is checked in Varbi

If the preferential access box is checked, you should contact your HR partner to clarify the next steps.
